Background: The Office of Representative Vargas seeks a highly motivated, self starting Civics Education Fellow. The fellow will be responsible for researching and evaluating the outcomes generated by the 2018 civics education bill. This is a stipend fellowship that ends in December of 2020.
Responsibilities:
Develop a survey for civics educators and students across the Commonwealth to collect quantitative and qualitative data on outcomes generated by the 2018 civics education bill.
Schedule virtual meetings with educators, students, and key stakeholders to gather data.
Identify common themes, strengths, and shortcomings in the implementation of the law.
Create a report summarizing findings and providing recommendations for further action to improve the state of civics education in the Commonwealth.
Qualifications:
Strong research and writing skills
Ability to take on self-directed work
Demonstrated background or interest in civics or education policy
Preference for candidates with experience collecting and evaluating data for research purposes
